Some New Tees

Inkfruit just declared its Talking Tees winners, some 22 new slogan tees! Some of them are totally awesome!

One that really takes my fancy is 'todafone' a spoof on vodafone!

Also released is a new poker collection by Blue Bus Tees... but I think that would cater only to a very small section of people in Indian cities. Anyway my favourite is one which says work is for people who cant play poker :p

Well the christmas season is here

Its time to be merry and be a dear!

Threadless has announced an annual season sale! Some awesome bargains for $5! I actually shortlisted this tee cause I thought I could buy it for that much... BBBUUUTTT the shipping actually costs an additional $9 in India and $6 in US itself! Man thats a lot so... don't think I will be ordering it. 

:) man but this design definitely 'bowls' me over!! :p

Indian Tee Places on Facebook!

Reading the Inkfruit blog and their latest post I was wondering about presence of the Indian Tee Places on Facebook. 

Well,

Myntra Page has 18 members

Inkfruit has 7 members and they are giving out free tees to new joining members! Check it out!

Pringoo has no facebook presence other than Jai Kumar's profile who is from what I understand the founder of Pringoo.
Considering tantra is a very common word, I haven't been able to find a group of tantra tees ... :S

Blue Bus Tee interview

Just emailed the Blue Bus Tee guys with some questions, and well they replied quite promptly, so here is the first interview of this blog:
Your t-shirt brand is only available online? How far do you think the Indian market is ready for online apparel shopping?
Yes as of now we are only available online. We do hope to have an
offline presence as well in the future. In terms of expectations about
online shopping..... its been amazing and we are overwhelmed by it. There
is a long way to go , but people are open to shopping online
Why would the Indian market that goes for rastaa tees at 100/- per tee, buy a 300/- one online??
Our 300 Rs tees are better than any rasta 100 Rs tee, in terms of
material quality, print quality, and the service around it. Now days
people are online most of the time and they dont mind shopping online as
well. And guess what, we have a good number of returning customers.
Who do you think is your main competitor??
There is no competition. We believe our product and service is the best.

So readers what do you think?? Blue Bus Tees is only 2 month old a venture, anyone tried out their product yet?? Let me know....

Indian T-shirt Brands

Some time back I had put up a post talking about one of the new t-shirt start ups from Mumbai, Blue Bus Tees, I was wondering what they are upto. On perusing their site I found out that they had come to Malhar at Xavier's 2008, however the new tees for the month section is empty. It seems they are into some offline activities but online they haven't gotten down to making a mark yet!

I was looking at other indian brands like tantra. From what I understand, Tantra has not been making new designs, they have already made such a mark in the Indian market that the old designs keep translating to sales. What I would like to know is, what plans do they have further for their brand? 

Myntra has started really foraging into Tshirts! In fact I believe their website has gotten a rehaul since I last checked it out. Currently they have this 'green' contest running! They also have this Rs 99 corner where a bunch of tees are available for 99/-

There is also People Tree, this online shoppe has a very quaint feel to it. It makes me think of a little shop with interesting stuff to sell. The stuff is timeless and the same but it sells, and people would buy it again :)

Any brands I missed?? Let me know...

For you guys who are into funky tshirts, Designs by Humans should be your favourite haunt!! Though the costs are high, most DBH tees are available for $20, which translates into almost 1,000 INR!

Rock On!

With the movie Rock On being a great a hit, rock is definitely making its presence felt to the Indian Masses. Inkfruit has joined this wagon and announced a new tee designing contest! This contest is named well Rock On!

Inkfruit Exchange Scheme

Inkfruit just launched a new and very funky scheme, Exchange old tshirts for new ones at half price. Its just been put up on their blog check it out!!
So a really funky tshirt like this:
would cost you about 175/- plus shipping! and another old tshirt of yours. And these old tshirts will then be given to some NGO's so it will actually clear your wardrobe for good!
Really cool scheme!

Astro Tees

I have already mentioned that I am an astronomy freak too, so just went looking for astronomy tshirts. Found this one on Cafepress really cool. There is also another ash grey colour available in tshirts and sweat shirts.There is also another very cool astro tee available at zazzle. It has a pic of saturns shadow.

Dil Se Bol

Just took a look at this "make your own tshirts" place. It's called Dil Se Bol and guarantees delivery of your customized mugs, tshirts, tiles, coasters etc.. in 4 days anywhere in India! Seems impressive, they have a feature where one can create his/her own design gallery and people can take a look at it, and buy from there if they like wherein the designer gets rewarded.
Pretty interesting venture. If you have used it then let us know your views on it!

Blue Bus Tees

As Inkfruit is settling into the tshirt scene, a new startup has come up in mumbai offering tees online called Blue Bus Tees. Though it is more of a conventional set up but the website is quite hep and the designs are interesting. though all of these brands still need to hit it big like Tantra did. Tantra hit the indian Tshirt market scene uncontested, and all of a sudden everybody was talking about it. But of course Tantra was an offline venture but they did start out a trend!
I was a little irked; remained aloof from it but not for long I finally had to get myself a little pink tantra tee with gandhiji's caricature and with his saying 'My life is my Message' and went around preaching the mantra :p

Hindustan Links

Its just a few years back that online shopping really became viable for indian people like me, and it has already grown so much! Infact keeping aside all the rediff.com's and indiatime's I have found that the more I search I keep finding online sources with products being sold!!
Like just recently I came across Hindustan Links and amongst its rakhi and baisakhi gifts I found a bunch of tshirts!!
The cost is in a large range of prices. From 2 tshirts of 600/- to a tshirt of 550/-.

Google Lunar X Prize Tee Design Competition

I mentioned sometime earlier that I was a astronomy freak as well so, couldn't resist this post on a tshirt design competition which captures the spirit of landing a robot on the moon and driving it 500m photoing along the way. Which is basically what the Google Lunar X Prize is.
They have announced a tshirt competition for all american citizens only!! (Why ??)
The winners get a $250 certificate and a $150 certificate of Cafepress.com

So well if you are a US resident go for it!! Or if you are not maybe you can collaborate with a US citizen and still go for it. Bee creative!

University Tshirts

I think one of the most memorable tshirts in peoples lives would be their college tees!
I still remember the end of final graduation year and I decided that I had to get the college tee. And I still wear it (its been two years), the tee is kinda getting faded but once its too old I will probably go for another one :p in a different colour!

Express India Winners

The winners of Express India a competition being conducted by Inkfruit have just been declared, right in time for Independence days!

Just went to Loot the other day, next to Metro it has some cool funky t shirts and other stuff. Also with 50% off on a lot of them, you can get a casual top for about Rs120/-, which is great!
Also with 40% off flat in Reebok that is another place to go tee shopping if you want a good bargain.

Tshirts at WestSide

This is one of my favourite off line t-shirt haunts. They have these really funky one liners and prints. Some of them are okay-ly priced, some look like they are from a western fashion magazine and cost a ton!

These are a couple of which I have.

This one is really funny cause I can just tell anyone that he/she is standing in my aura (cause my aura extends limitlessly) and needs to back off :p


This other jacket is also really good... has a very funky look.

I just wrote the last post and a new company has started up, competing with Picsquare and iTasveer! Zoom.In.
This has similar services, you can sign up and upload your photos, edit them. Then you can send this as a hard copy or printed on mugs, calendars, tees to your friends and family in US or India!
The shipping charges for India is Rs 25 and for US Rs 100.

Photo Printing on Tees

Hi!
I first came across this a few years back, when it started in a shop nearby my house in Mumbai. For 200/- I could get a white (low quality tee) with a photo ( I provided) printed on it. The quality however was pretty poor.
Times however have improved and there are now a large number of services which provide photo printing on tees, giving a much better picture clarity and quality!
PicSquare: This is a company started in 2005 by two IIT Mumbaites. Along with tees you can get personalized mugs, calenders, cards etc.. They also have a service where in you can upload a photo and they will send the hard copy anywhere in India! Pretty cool service for the Indians who are abroad with families here. And this can be done within 100/-.
The price for a photo tee is abt 400/-.

iTasveer: This endeavour also by Iitians (from delhi this time) started in 2006. They also have a lot of features as photo mugs, photo calenders, mousepads (that sounds cool)... They have this cool function 'doodlepad' using which you can create a product of your choice, without signing up. And the result I got seemed really good and I think I shall try the service out one of these days!
The tees here also cost pretty much the same abt 400/- without shipping charges.

Merasnap: Taken over by snapfish, this site offers similar services however I need to sign in to really figure out the place, which I have'nt done yet. So shall post a review whence I do!

Just came across this company based in California, which is again an online portal to great tees. You can check it out here.
They have a contest going on currently, where they want t-shirts to be around the theme UNDERDOG ALMA MATER this is for the upcoming 2008 VANS Warp tour.This is a cool tee, I would buy it if it was available here. Its cost is $24, which is kind of expensive!

Rastaa Tees

Fashion Street - Mumbai.
What do you'll think abt the rasta tees. Costing as low as 50/- I have often got tees that have lasted me abt a year!
Also copies of the latest fashions are found here, like I remember that fad of having your fav band on your tee. This happened when I was in college and backstreet boys and boyzone were the favourites. There was a huge surge of tshirts with their pics on the roadsides.
Almost every other kid in college had one....

More on Eco friendly Tees

Talking about eco friendly tees... here are some Bamboo Tees..
They are great, incase you have never used them. Not too expensive... these tees cost abt $10... I think thats pretty reasonable.

Get Green Tees

One of my concerns in life is to be a part of the green revolution! This I try to do in various ways less usage of AC's, using public transport when possible...
Another way is ofcourse sporting eco-friendly tees like the one to the left is from Inkfruit.

I think it would be great and very effective if a lot of us went around sporting such messages and thus reminding people of the threat of nature and thus treading gently on our planet.
